Beer of Choice
A collaboration series featuring 5 new beers, 14 participating breweries,
and 100% of proceeds supporting reproductive healthcare.
On behalf of the participating Whatcom County Breweries, we are excited to announce the culmination of a summer's-worth of cooperative effort within our growing beer community - the "Beer of Choice" collaboration series!
Beer of Choice is a series of 5 unique beers, brewed between 14 collaborating Whatcom County Breweries, in support of the organizations performing essential work in the area of reproductive healthcare. Each Friday in the month of September 2022 you’ll see a new collaboration beer release, with the opportunity to support a different non-profit organization each week, and try a tasty new beer while you do it!
Beer of Choice was born from a great sense of community support that we all felt was needed in the wake of the SCOTUS Roe v. Wade reversal. So we gathered together with the intention to find a thoughtful way to support our community with the resources we have available to us. We decided to stick with what we know best - beer. All together we crafted a plan to brew 5 unique beers, released in 5 consecutive weeks during the month of September, which just so happens to be Sexual Health Awareness Month.
Once the collaboration groups were set, and the brew dates on the schedule, we reached out to vendors supplying ingredients for the brewing process to gauge interest in the project. The support we received from vendors was inspiring, as well as instrumental in significantly lowering the cost to produce these beers - which will result in greater donation amounts to the incredible organizations Beer of Choice will be supporting.
We wish to extend a huge thank you to Skagit Valley Malts for donating 100% of the malt, as well as Imperial Yeast and Hollingbery and Sons Hops for providing discounted ingredients for all of the brews! Snack Plate Creative also generously donated their time and expertise in designing the marketing materials and can label graphics. To everyone who contributed to this project, we are incredibly grateful!
Keep an eye out for a new Beer of Choice beer release each Friday in the month of September. To participate, all you have to do is visit any of the breweries listed below on the corresponding release date, with a culminating beer release party on 9/30 at the Aslan Depot!
