Celebrating 20 Years of '9 Jordan Rain Song': A Hidden Gem Unearthed

Bellingham, WA — Celebrate the 20th anniversary of '9 Jordan Rain Song,' an enduring indie/low-fi gem from the Pacific Northwest. Join renowned artist Jordan Rain, aka Yogoman, and his live group Yogoman Burning Band (YBB) as they mesmerize audiences with performances showcasing selections from this acclaimed album across the Pacific Northwest. In the early 90s, Rain emerged from the booming Grunge scene and immersed himself in Seattle's vibrant indie/DIY/underground music community. Hosting legendary house shows in his living room, Rain hosted notable acts like Modest Mouse and Jimmy Eat World. Later drawn to the soulful sounds of vintage Jamaican music, Rain later settled in Bellingham and embarked on a journey as a live vinyl DJ under the moniker Yogoman in 1999 to present day. Rain's diverse musical background spans an array of genres such as Punk, Hardcore, Noise, Experimental, Folk, Doo Wop, Soul and Jazz, but it was the influence of Foundation Jamaican music that ignited a profound transformation, shaping Rain's persona as DJ Yogoman. Continuing to inspire audiences with eclectic DJ sets, Rain formed Yogoman Burning Band in 2005 after writing ‘9 Song,’ ready to lead the charge of a positive celebration dance band. Known for their vibrant performances, YBB serves as a vibrant musical and spiritual antidote to the gloomy Northwest weather and sounds that typically come from the region. '9 Jordan Rain Song,' Rain's debut masterpiece, garnered critical acclaim upon its release in 2004. Originally released on CD with hand silk-screened covers, the album defies categorization, revealing a concept-like essence in under 30 minutes. Rain cherishes this work as his personal favorite and considers it to be a testament to his artistry albeit raw.
