A Night WITH the Stars
Prom as an adult is way more fun than prom in High School. No oversized rented suits, no teachers chaperoning from the sidelines, and most importantly, as adults, we can enjoy some adult beverages. Beer Prom is the perfect excuse to relive the glory days and let loose. Our 5th annual Beer Prom benefitting Lydia Place aimed to be different this year, and it was a resounding success!
Originally projected to happen at Trackside, we moved the event to K2 for a less rainy night under the stars. This proved to be an incredible pivot, providing a beautiful and fun atmosphere. Guests arrived in their red-carpet worthy attire, ready to dance, drink, and make memories. The night was filled with laughter, joy and a sense of community. This year, we aimed big with eight one-of-a-kind collaborative brews from seventeen breweries, all crafted specifically to support the event. These unique beers debuted at the prom, each representing the brewery couples’ take on the taste of Hollywood. Guests voted for their favorite brew, and the winner of the night was Boundary Bay and Gruff Brewing’s "A Lil’ Razzle Dazzle Raspberry Lemonade Smoothie Sour" – “They like me, they really like me!”
Supporting Lydia Place
Beyond the fun, Beer Prom is about making a difference. We raised a record breaking $13,000 for Lydia Place to support their mission to disrupt the cycle of homelessness in Whatcom County. Lydia Place’s Community Engagement Director, Tally Rabatin, emphasized the importance of events like Beer Prom: “Lydia Place relies on the power of partnerships and collaborative engagement to help bring awareness and funding to support our critical housing programs and services. Beer Prom, and our partnership with Kulshan Brewing, checks both of these boxes and demonstrates what’s possible when we collaborate.”
Proceeds from Beer Prom will be used to support parent support, mental health counseling, and housing for children, impacting more than 300 households at any given time. This event not only brings our community together but also shows how collaborative efforts can address challenging issues like homelessness.
Music, Dancing, and BEER!
Throughout the night, guests danced to the lively tunes of the Triple B Big Band and enjoyed the incredible brews in commemorative glasses. The raffle added an extra layer of excitement, with fantastic prizes up for grabs. As the night progressed, DJ Jody Keagle took over, lighting up the brew deck with classic tunes that transformed the usual industrial production facility into a full-blown dance floor.

In the midst of all the fun and dancing, we kept our focus on the ultimate goal: supporting Lydia Place and their mission. This year’s Beer Prom was a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together for a great cause. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making this night unforgettable.
